Once your new carpet is fitted, regular hoovering is the best way to maintain it's great look and feel. Avoid regular use of a beater bar (the rotating brush) as this is damaging to most carpets. Expect a considerable amount of fluff from a new carpet, this is a result of shearing in the factory, is completely normal and should reduce over the course of a months worth of regular hoovering.
For spills. Clean up any spills immediately. Use an absorbent cloth and Blotting action. Do not use a scrubbing action as this will merely spread the the stain.
Most synthetic (polypropylene) carpets are bleach cleanable and stain resistant, which means most spillages will clean up perfectly!
For Wool Carpets, be sure to test any cleaning products in a discreet area before cleaning in a prominent area. A spot clean, followed by a general clean will produce the best results.
Use protective cups under furniture wheels and feet to avoid crushing the pile and if you have rugs move them around every few months, this will avoid unsightly fading.Lots of carpets are now UV resistant, but it may still have an effect in rooms which enjoy lots of natural light.
